Save ALL specifications to system disk

The Save ALL specifications to system disk menu option causes all the current configuration data for all mechanisms in the system to be written to the V+ system disk. The SPEC data on the system disk is used to re-configure the Adept SmartMotion system during system startup. You must use this option after changing the configuration data using the SPEC program, otherwise the changes will be lost when the system is turned off.

To create a backup copy of the SPEC data in a separate file, use the Save specifications to disk file menu option.

CAUTION: Before you modify a V+ system disk, you should make a copy of the system (with the DISKCOPY utility program).

If your Adept system controls more than one robot, this menu selection saves the data for ALL the robots (and any external encoders).

To use the Save ALL specification to system disk option:

  1. Select the Save ALL specifications to system disk option from the menu. Then, press Enter.

  2. At the prompt, press Y to initiate the process for writing the data to the boot disk (the data will not actually be written until later in the process).

Otherwise, press N to cancel and return to the menu.

  3. Enter the drive letter at the prompt. You are prompted for permission to write the data to the V+ system on the selected drive.

  4. At the prompt, press Y to write the data; to cancel, press N.

If Y is selected, the data is written to the system disk. A message displays when the process completes.

The following screen shows the prompts and responses that display when you select the Save ALL specifications to system disk.
